Safariguys.net and John Manss offer another incredible hunt, Saskatchwean black bear!

About: My name is John Manss with Parkland Outfitters in Saskatchewan. We have the best opportunity for a color phase bear in the northwest Saskatchewan’s Boriel forest. Parkland Outfitters has been in operation for 14 years. In this time we have shared hunting experiences with many strangers who since then have become close friends. The hunts we offer are a more personal type of hunt as you are welcomed into our home and are made to feel part of the family.

Our goal is to offer you a quality hunt, and a fun time with memories you can take home along with your trophy if you are lucky enough to get one. The fair chase hunts are set in the forest lands and the blinds are positioned to ambush those trophy bear.

The Hunt: The season for the bear hunts runs nine weeks. We try to hunt the best weeks of the season to harvest the top quality fur coats and also to hit the rut when the large males are roaming to find a mate. We offer one-week packages for the spring bear and we hunt from Monday night to Saturday night. Season normally runs from the first week of May, to the second week of June. If you have a particular time that you would like to come, just let us know. Hunts run from Sunday to Sunday. Contact us for open dates during the 2008 spring season.
  • We hunt from tree stands over bait.

  • Most of the stands are set up at 15 yards for archery.

  • Rifle hunters can also hunt from stands located this close or from a farther distance.

  • Some of our hunts are only accessible by boat. Hunts depend on lake activity.

  • Some hunts can be driven to.

  • Some hunts can be rode to on a quad.

  • Some hunts are only accessible by floatplane, or a five hour quad ride.

  • We can arrange for any type of hunt you want.

  • We operate small cabins with wood stoves.

  • There are all color phases of the black bear in the 400 square miles of wilderness we hunt in.

  • We will skin and prepare your hid for taxidermy and either salt or freeze it.

  • The fishing for Northern Pike in the bay down from camp is exceptional from shore.

  • Make arrangements to fly into Saskatoon Sask, Canada.

  • Rent a SUV and drive to camp, about a five hour drive from Saskatoon.

Price: The hunt runs $3500/hunter plus the license of $200.00.

Additional Information: The following additional equipment is needed when coming to hunt Parkland Muskwa:
  • Good sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Towel/face cloth
If you are rifle hunting you will need:
  • Complete hunting suit of white or red
  • Red hat

If you are hunting archery, muzzleloader or shotgun then you can use full camouflage clothing. A rain suit is good to have along with waterproof footwear and gloves. Also another suggested thing to bring is a head net to keep the mosquitoes and bugs away from your face. A rifle of 23 cal. or larger and bows with 40 lbs or greater with broad heads with at least one inch cutting diameter. Another good thing to have if you are archery hunting is a compact shotgun to have along with you for protection. Bear spray is also a good idea and if you like to fish bring your fishing rod along with you.
